Gundam Card Game rarities explained: C+, R+, LR, LR+ and LR++
What every Gundam Card Game rarity means — Common to Legend Rare, the + parallels, LR++ alternate arts, SP and Link Rare — and how much each is worth.
Gundam Card Game rarities look confusing at first because every rarity has a parallel version. Once you know the ladder, it is simple.
The base rarities
- C — Common, U — Uncommon, R — Rare: the bulk of each set.
- LR — Legend Rare: the headline mobile suits and pilots, around 12 per main set.
The "+" parallels
Every rarity has a parallel printing with the same card number and game text but premium foil treatment and often alternate art: C+, U+, R+ and LR+. Some sets add C++ as well. On TCGplayer, and on our card pages, parallels are listed as separate cards with the rarity in brackets — for example "Psycho Gundam (LR+)".
LR++: the chase cards
LR++ is the top alternate-art version of a Legend Rare and the most valuable thing you can pull. As a scale: GD01-001 Gundam is about $2 as a base card, about $48 as LR+ and around $590 as LR++. Freedom Ascension's Wing Gundam Zero (EW) (LR++) is $3,910 today.
Special rarities
- SP (Special) cards and SP-foil EX Resource tokens: some GD05 EX Resource tokens sell for hundreds of dollars — EX Resource (EXR-009) (C+) (SP) is $767.76.
- Link Rare, added with the first-anniversary set Freedom Ascension (GD05).
- Promos from release events and organized play (the GCG-PR line), and Edition Beta cards from the pre-launch release.
