Is a Gundam Card Game booster box worth it, or should you buy singles?

When opening a Gundam Card Game booster box beats buying singles, when it doesn't, and how to check the numbers for any set with today's prices.

If you are building a deck to a list, buying singles is almost always cheaper than opening packs to find them. Boxes make sense when you enjoy opening, play sealed with friends, or the box is selling at or under the value of what's inside.

Check the box price

Every box on our booster box price list compares TCGplayer, eBay and every store we track. Use the cheapest price you could actually buy at, shipping included.

Check what the cards are worth

Each set price guide lists every card's market price, most valuable first. Most of a box's value sits in the rarest cards — see the LR++, LR+ and Legend Rare price lists — and you are not guaranteed to pull any particular one. Commons rarely sell for more than a few cents.

Compare like for like

  • For a deck: price the list in the best basket tool. That total is what the deck really costs.
  • For value: a box only pays off if the cards you would actually sell cover its price after fees. The selling fee calculator shows what you keep.

Rules of thumb

  • Boxes are best value around release, when stores discount them and singles are still high.
  • Singles win once a set is a few months old and box prices have climbed.
  • For competitive play, buy the singles.
